Andrey Gugnin, the winner of Classic Piano International Competition opened the “Symphonic Season” at the Goldoni Theater, Livorno, Italy with the outstanding concert showcasing his technical mastery and virtuosic emotional interpretation.

The concert was devoted to the theme of “Fantasy in music” as the day of the concert coincided with the Halloween holiday. It opened the Symphonic Season at the Goldoni Theater, with the Goldoni Orchestra conducted by M° Marcello Mottadelli.
The concert's carefully selected repertoire offered a rich tapestry of emotional depth, engaging audiences of all ages with its diverse range of musical expressions. The journey began with Edvard Grieg's Suite No. 1, Op. 46, a piece that gently drew the listeners into its melodic beauty and rich textures. From there, the atmosphere took a darker turn with Franz Liszt’s Totentanz (Paraphrase on Dies Irae, S. 126), a spellbinding work that intertwined piano and orchestra in a dramatic danse macabre. Liszt's inspiration for this composition stemmed from a profound encounter with the Triumph of Death fresco in Pisa, Italy, a haunting reminder of mortality that he explored through music for over two decades. The evening concluded with the soaring, cinematic brilliance of John Williams’ iconic score from Star Wars, a testament to the composer’s ability to evoke a grand sense of adventure, heroism, and the timeless battle between good and evil. This concert offered a powerful blend of evocative storytelling, with each work offering its own unique emotional landscape.
Andrey Gugnin, one of the greatest pianists of his generation, was perfectly suited for the performance of such significance and complexity.
